MetaAccanthis

Meta Accanthis is a font designed with Metapost, a tool to design shapes by defining points with coordinates and defining drawing instructions. This is a revival of the Accanthis font from the LATEX font catalogue, a set of fonts implemented to be used in the layout tool LaTeX. As Metapost also comes from LaTeX (the Metapost language can be used inside of LaTeX to draw geometrical figures for instance), it made sense to me to design a font from the catalog with it. It feels like completing a cycle.

In project I had fun experimenting with Metapost, on how to deal with the serifs in the original fonts while Metapost makes stroke fonts. Metapost rests on algorithms that design curves in a specific way, so I designed an alternate version to experiment with these curves and make them visible.
